چکیده
Heat-killed, preservatIve-free preparations of strain CN 6134 Cosynebacterlum parvum have been demonstrated to Induceinterferonin culturesof normaladufthuman1lymphocytes.C. parvumwas also shownto inducehuman T-lymphocytes to proliferate In vitro. The maximum inter feron and proliferative response was observed 7 days after initiationof cultureat a finalC. parvumconcentration of 140 @&g/mb. Humanmonocyte-derivedmacrophagesdid not produce Interferon in response to C. par.'um or in response to products of C. parvum-stlmulated T-lympho cytes. The addition of macrophagesto cuftures of T lymphocytes did not significantly enhance the production of interferonby the T-lymphocytes;however,it did slgnft icantlyenhance the proliferativeresponseto C. parvum. C. parvum can also enhancethe productionof Interferon by T-lymphocytesstimulatedwith phytohemagglutininin the presence of macrophages, and the amountof inter feron produced in the presence of both agents was greater than the sum of the amounts of Interferon stImu bated by each agent acting alone. The type of interferon produced by T-Iymphocytes in response to C. parium is similar to type II or immune interferon, because it was labile to low pH and heat. Thus, a link has been found between two agents, C. parvum and interferon, both of which have in common antitumor properties and the abilityto modulatethe Immuneresponse.

C1-esterase inhibitor blocks T lymphocyte proliferation and cytotoxic T lymphocyte generation in vitro.
We have previously shown that activated C1s complement and activated T cells cleave beta2-microglobulin (beta2m) in vitro leading to the formation of desLys58 beta2m. This process can specifically be inhibited by C1-esterase inhibitor (C1-inh). Furthermore we showed that exogenously added desLys58 beta2m in nanomolar amounts to a one-way allogenic mixed lymphocyte culture (MLC) increased the en...
متن کاملGenistein Induces a Protective Immunomodulatory Effect in a Mouse Model of Cervical Cancer
Background: Genistein (GEN), a naturally occurring flavonoid present in soy bean, has attracted scientific interest for its possible benefits in cancer. Objective: The potential immunomodulatory effects of genistein on the immune system and against TC-1 tumor cell line were evaluated in adult female C57BL/6 mice. Methods: Mice were treated with GEN 10 days before to 10 days after the tumor indu...
متن کاملInhibition of tumor-specific cytotoxic T-lymphocyte responses by transforming growth factor beta 1.
Transforming growth factor beta (TGF-beta) is a potent immunosuppressive cytokine that is produced by neoplastic and normal cells. It has not been demonstrated directly, however, that TGF-beta can inhibit antigen-specific T-cell responses to tumor cells in vitro. We show here that generation of antitumor cytotoxic T-lymphocyte (CTL) activity in mixed-lymphocyte tumor cultures of splenocytes fro...
متن کاملدرمان موشهای دیابتیک نوع 1 با آل- ترانس رتینوئیک اسید از طریق مهار سایتوکاینهای پیش التهابی
Background & Aims: Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune condition associated with the T-cell–mediated destruction of Pancreatic β cells. Vitamin A (retinol) and its metabolites (such as all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA)) have a variety of biological activities including immunomodulatory action in a number of inflammatory and autoimmune conditions. The purpose of this study was to investigate the e...
متن کاملInterferon inhibits the generation of allospecific suppressor T lymphocytes
The effect of human interferon alpha on the differentiation of functional populations of lymphocytes during the human allogeneic response in vitro was studied. Interferon alpha inhibited the generation of allospecific suppressor T lymphocytes that normally develop from lymphocytes primed in vitro against allogeneic cells. This effect was not the result of the destruction by interferon of precur...
